How can i cash a check without a bank account?

I got a personal check from my grandparents for my bday and their bank are across state and i have no bank account and rather not have to open an account when i dont normally have money to put into the account?

Now might be a very good time to open a savings account. Put your check there, and try to add a little more from time to time. It's great to have a bit put aside. It makes all sorts of things easier later. You might learn to like the feeling of being not entirely skint, and even thank your grandparents for starting you off on a worthwhile lifelong habit.
Reply:You can sign the check over to your parents and they should be able to take the check to their bank and cash it for you. Just put pay to the order of and one of their names after you sign it. Then when they get to the bank, they can sign and cash it. Otherwise, without a bank account, you can't cash personal checks. The bank has no way of retrieving the money if the check isn't good.
Reply:You cannot cash a personal cheque unless you have a bank account.





If the check was a federal or state check you may be able to at a bank with proper ID etc.. but because its a personal cheque you won't be able to..





If you have parents with good credit.. or someone close to you with good credit and decent assets.. their bank may cash it for them if you sign it over to them first.



Reply:Now might be the time to open an account and just leave a few dollars in there so you won't have this problem in the future. Time will come soon that you'll have the need for an account so you might as well do it now.
Reply:I think you can go into the bank that the check was drawn on and cash it with a valid state ID. Of have a parent/friend/family member deosit it into their account and give you cash.

If you live in a rural area, some grocery stores still cash checks. But they're getting fewer and fewer.
