What does the balance in a Prepaid Expense account represent?

This is an assimgment of accounting. But I don't know what the question means exactly.
What does the balance in a Prepaid Expense account represent?
It represents those transactions that have already paid but that which you have not yet received the service or goods.
Reply:A prepaid anything is a paid into the item for future usage. The balance is what is left after some use of the item. Prepaid telephone card, credit card, or expense account.
