How do I recover an Outlook Express email account after my computer crashed?

Our computer crashed today and we had to reset our computer to the manufacturer settings. After getting everything back up and going, my Husband went to access is OE email and it prompted him to create a new account. When he tries to enter his "current" login name and password, it returns with an incorrect password/login message.

Is there a way to recover his email account?

Thanks in advance!

You can try to recover your messages from Outlook Express message databases with Easy Mail Recovery software:

The program uses original algorithms that assist in the recovery of a maximum number of messages even if the mail client cannot open the message database.
Reply:It is extremely easy! Outlook Password Recovery can help you recover

email accounts from Outlook, Outlook Express. Find more at

Reply:Outlook Express doesn't have PST files at least not by default, so that's not going to work. I'm looking for the ansewr too, or I'd tell you how to do this.
Reply:Do a disk search and find the .pst file and load that in place of a new .pst file from a new account. If you can't find it, you can try a file recovery program and look for anything ending in .pst, if you can't then the data is likely lost permanently.

  1. In this situation I advise to use-recover outlook express, tool helped me many times and as far as I know it is free, moreover it extracts and saves the user's messages from files with the dbx extension that Outlook Express uses to store folders, messages and news on the local disk, extract the user's correspondence from a corrupted .dbx file and to save messages to separate files of the *.eml format (RFC822 standard) after that, program will probably be able to undelete messages permanently deleted from the Deleted items folder, can also easily copy (or move) a message in the *.eml file to Outlook Express folders or to other programs supporting this standard, supports previewing the message bodies being recovered and stored in .dbx files (including corrupted dbx files),tool can recover Outlook Express data from *.dbx files in the batch mode, working with dbx files for Outlook Express versions 5, 5.5 and 6,tool running under all Windows operating systems starting from Windows 98 (Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003).
