Does it cost anything to open up a merchant account at the bank?

What do you have to have? What is the process of doing this?

This link above has a lot of links on merchant accounts and how to open one!! That might help. However I noticed that all these acouncts only deal with credit cards!! That is odd, Wells Fargo has one that stays at the bank!! That is another option also!
Reply:By a merchant account, do you mean for credit card processing? If you do, at minimum you will need to buy or lease a card reader. You will also be charged a monthly fee, a per transaction fee, or both.

If you or referring to a Business Checking account, the PROCESS is similar to opening a personal account, but the TERMS are different. Nearly all business accounts have fees that do not apply to most personal accounts.
Reply:Same as opening a personal account except that you have to prove you are a licensed business. There is a different fee structure for bank services and fees for processing credit cards that you accept as payment. Check around with competing banks to see who wants your business.
